Self-advocacy Trainings

Self-advocates are people with disabilities who speak up for themselves. Self-advocates can speak up to make big changes that affect many people. Other times, self-advocates speak up to make changes in their own lives.

Self-advocates need education and training to take control of their lives. Self-advocates learn about leadership, advocacy, and other topics that they choose.

Human Rights Training for Self-Advocates

Mass Advocates Standing Strong (MASS) Self-advocacy Leadership Series (SALS)

  • To improve soft skills in the following areas: communication, listening, teamwork, self-awareness, problem solving and negotiation.

  • The Self-Advocacy Leadership Series (SALS) is an eight-class series that focuses on the fundamentals of leadership.

  • The SALS is designed for young adults with ID/DD between the ages 17-22, and is also available for older adult groups.

Employment First Massachusetts Self-Determination and Self-Advocacy

Development of self-determination and self-advocacy skills for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with a focus on employment.

Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE)

Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) is the United State’s national self-advocacy organization. We are a national board of regional representatives and members from every state in the US.
