Narrative

The Employment Services Program at New England Village has been helping individuals with developmental disabilities maximize their vocational potential and earn a salary through meaningful employment since 1972. Program participants are provided consistent and varied work opportunities through independent job placements, supervised crew assignments or by working directly in clerical, mail room, janitorial and maintenance positions at New England Village. Additionally, the Village is always seeking business ventures that would enable our workers to gain supplementary skills and to experience some level of entrepreneurship. As a result, we operate several small businesses that offer individuals an opportunity to work in unique and exciting areas. A landscaping crew services residential clients on the South Shore and performs duties such as mowing, raking and yard clean-ups. Our professional cleaning crew provides the corporate offices and residences of New England Village with inexpensive, quality cleaning on a daily basis. Finally, a farm crew provides the daily labor necessary to run NEV’s newest venture: Colchester Neighborhood Farm, an 8-acre organic farm located in Plympton.
